So today’s the day crochet friends, I have a brand new, FREE crochet pattern for you all. If you saw my previous hints here on the blog or over on the Crochet Creature Instagram account you might have already had a guess at what I had in store for you. Did you get it right?
I LOVE pancake day and it’s coming up in February so I thought I’d make an amigurumi project to honour it. I came up with this adorable little lemon and a couple of super simple pancakes that take no time at all to whip up. This set is perfect as play food so why not make some pancakes for your little ones so they can join in the pancake flipping fun on the big day without the risk of pancake batter on the ceiling!
Read on for the FREE crochet pattern and get stitching!
You Will Need:
- 3.5mm Crochet hook
- DK yarn in beige and yellow (scraps will do)
- Scrap of black yarn or embroidery thread for facial features
- Pair of 6mm Safety eyes or alternative
- Green felt for leaves
- A little toy stuffing
- Stitch marker
This pattern is written in US crochet terminology and is worked in the round. Use a stitch marker to help you keep track of rounds. After every instruction I note how many stitches you should have. You may use any DK yarn; I used basic store brand acrylic DK for my examples.

Cut two leaf shapes from the green felt (one larger and one smaller) and sew them on the right hand side of the lemon, just before the narrow end. A couple of stitches should be enough to secure them.
Below the eyes, embroider a cute smile for the lemon using black yarn or embroidery thread. Add an eyebrow above each eye to give the lemon a shocked expression. You could also try out some different facial expressions!
